Owner-occupied homes with pools do not need a certificate but they do need to ensure that their pool gates/fences/barriers conform to the pool safety standards set out in the QDC MP3.4.

The pool owning vendor must produce a valid Pool Safety Certificate when they are selling their property.
If you are buying a property with a pool and it DOES NOT have a valid Pool Safety Certificate and the vendor intends giving - or has given - you a Form 36 - Notice of No Pool Safety Certificate be aware that YOU must obtain a Certificate within ninety days of the completed sale. You will therefore be responsible for the costs of the Inspection, Certificate and any repairs or alterations necessary to obtain the Certificate. Q-Safe Pool Inspections can assist with a Pool Safety Report prior to the sale's completion so that you know what is going to be required for a Certificate.
When leasing a property, the lessor must provide a copy of the current Pool Safety Certificate with any new lease.

Any shared pool or outdoor spa requires a Pool Safety Certificate which is valid for 12 months and which must be reinspected every 12 months.

The Q-Safe Pool Safety Inspector (PSI) will ask for some details about your pool & pool fences before scheduling an inspection.
The PSI will discuss upfront payment with you (Direct Debit, Mastercard & Visa all available).

At the commencement of the inspection they will photograph the pool and surrounds from all angles without invading your family's privacy.
They will measure and test the pool gates, boundary fences and barriers using measuring tapes, by hand and by force to test strength and rigidity as required by the Act and Regulations.
They will discuss with you (the pool owner or representative) all if any safety issues and offer the simplest solutions to satisfy the Pool Safety Standards and make your pool compliant.
The will issue a Pool Safety Certificate within two days.
You will be charged the $45.76* stand government fee for the certificate.

They will issue a Form 26 Pool Safety Nonconformity Notice within two days.
This notice will define the areas of deficiency that have been discussed, alternative remedies for the areas of deficiency and further advises that a reinspection is necessary within three months.
The PSI will issue you a pool safety report within two days. This report is along the lines of the Nonconformity Notice advising all areas of deficiency and the possible remedies for those deficiencies.
You do not have to call us back to reinspect unless you wish to do so (there is a charge for reinspection) unless sections of pool fencing or gates are being replaced. The PSI will advise you of this where it applies.
